Parent Advisory Council Mission StatementThe Mamquam Parent Advisory Council is dedicated to the education and the well being of the child. The PAC’S primary mandate is to promote effective communication between the home and the school. The PAC encourages parents to participate in meaningful education activities and decision making, to strengthen the role of families in education and schooling. Goals1. To enhance the communication among Parents, Community, Students , School, Staff and Administration 2. To advise the school administrator and staff on parental views about school programs, policies and procedures, budgets, facilities and equipment, activities, and learning resources. 3. To communicate with all parents regularly which may include newsletters, information mailings, postings on the Bulletin Board, and monthly meetings. 4. To assist/educate parents in accessing the system. The PAC is not a forum for ongoing discussions involving individual staff members or administrators. The PAC may advise parents on how to present individual concerns or complaints to teachers, administrators, and/or school trustees. This will ensure that there are appropriate procedures in place to hear all concerns at both the school and district level. 5. To raise funds to be used primarily for the provision of educational material, equipment, field trips, and events, that would not otherwise be provided through the school’s statutory funding. This funding cannot be used where long-term legal or financial obligations may be incurred. 6. To represent collective parental views when liaising with partner groups, community organizations, and school administration. 7. To organize activities and events for the school community. 8. To examine and respond to educational policies that concern students in École Mamquam School. 9. To assist parents in becoming familiar with the facilities and services available, thereby encouraging their children’s optimum use of the school system. 10. To model high standards of responsibility and ethics within our school and district. A PAC bulletin board is located in the foyer of the school. Monthly meeting notices, agenda, meeting minutes, Interesting and important information, are posted. Please take the time to read the bulletin board. Your PAC Chairperson is always open to hearing about any concerns you may have. Do not hesitate to call.
We look forward to seeing new and familiar faces, to hearing new ideas and welcoming parent involvement!
